Woman of Holiness

 

Proverbs 4:26-27

"Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil."

 

**It is important to God that we live a life that is consecrated to Him. He wants us to be holy, set apart, spiritually pure and dedicated to His purpose of bringing Him glory, honor and pleasure. A woman of holiness is a woman who obeys God. **

 

2 Corinthians 7:1

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

 

**We need to be holy in our thoughts. **

 

2 Corinthians 10:5

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

 

**We need to be holy in our behavior. **

 

Titus 2:3

"The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;"

 

** We need to be holy in our conversation. **

 

1 Peter 1:15

"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation."

 

**In the last chapter we talked about being holy in the way we dress. **

 

1 Timothy 2:8-10

"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

 

** This does not mean that we go around all sad and mopey, looking dumpy and unkempt. We can be clean, neat, and look good. I like to dress nice and be in style, but there are certain styles I refrain from because they are not becoming to Godliness and holiness. **

 

1 Peter 1:16

"Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."

 

**God is commanding us to be holy. He would not ask something of us that we are unable to give. It is a goal we consistently and diligently work toward.  We have to live in this world, but we don't have to become as the world. The world lures us. We want to be liked and approved by the world, but the world is going to pass away. **

 

--We are drawn into and influenced by worldly desires, but we must be so careful not to fall for the temptations that take us from the will of God.--

 

Ephesians 4:24

"And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

 

**When we strive to be like God we are striving for holiness. we keep our focus on holy things. **

 

1 John 2:15-17

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."

 

Hebrews 12:4

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."

 

** We need to be holy in all things we read, look at, and watch. Every area of our lives should be focused on pleasing God. Ask yourself, "Would God approve? **
