Our Own Worst Enemy

At times we are our own worst enemy. You know why I say this? Because in life things don’t go our way, and instead of getting back up and trying again, we get discouraged, and the thought of failure resides in the back of our minds, and every time we make a mistake down the road, we resort back to the thought of failure again. We need to re-program our minds. Where instead of “I Can’t”, We say “I Can”. And Instead of saying, “I am weak” say “I am strong”. Now this is impossible to do on our own, but it is done completely through Jesus Christ. He provides the real strength and encourages us to keep the good fight of faith…
 1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
There is hope knowing that even going through the struggles and battles of this wicked world, and against our enemy (devil), we can make it in the end as long as we have Jesus guiding our path. Don’t let the enemy receive their strength by you doubting yourself, and putting yourself down. You don’t want another enemy on your list (you). When fighting this battle with God, who can possibly fight against us and win. No one. We are winners through Jesus Christ.
 Psalms 27:1
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalms 23:4
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Jesus’ disciples had to have inspiration and motivation to make it in this wicked world. Jesus told them of persecution and trials ahead, that they will face. Rejection and grief from others. But He gives encouragement to say that through Him He is the ‘way, the Truth, and the Life’, and that He will provide the comforter (Holy Ghost) that will guide us, and instruct us wherever we go.
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 14:13
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
Where do we have room to say that we can’t do anything, where Jesus gives us the power to ask anything in His name and that we can receive it from Him. No self help book, nor so called life coaches can give you a strong foundation like Jesus gives to his followers. It doesn’t come close… Where they give empty words and fill their pockets for profit, Jesus gives solid instructions that no one can put a price on. It just involves our participation, it involves our soul for eternal life.
John 14:16-18
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
And here is a famous scripture that proves of our worth and strength with Jesus. Reminding ourselves that we CAN do it, and that we are NOT failures. Jesus helps us through His word, to remind us of what we can do, and how he can help us achieve the obstacles in life.
Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
*Paul was content because he could see life from God’s point of view. He focused on what he was supposed to do, not what he felt he should have. He had his priorities straight and was grateful for everything God had given him. Paul struggles in his life, and he had overcome them, and in his obstacles, he sought strength from Jesus, because he knew without him, he couldn’t make it on his own. Just like many, Paul could have in any moment said, “I give up”, “I Can’t do it”, “This is too much”. But he didn’t, he went to Jesus, and had placed his troubles on him for help, we can do the same, it’s that simple. *
2 Corinthians 11:24-29
“Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice suffered I shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeying often, in perils of water, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is offended, and I burn not?”
