*We all go through our difficult
moments in life from time to time. Difficulties that include, losing loved
ones, hardships through our jobs, and the most famous of all is finances.
People everyday worry about when they will receive their next paycheck to pay
off bills coming up, or that they lost their job and they were the only one
bringing in the money for the family. Even though we face these troubles every day,
we are given the opportunity to ease these worries by the power of the Lord. *
Below we find an example of just how
wonderful God is to provide for His children in desperate need of help.
Elisha provides oil for
a widow through God
2 Kings 4:1-7
“Now there cried a certain woman of
the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my
husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the
creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said
unto her, what shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And
she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty
vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door
upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and
thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the
door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured
out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her
son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more.
And the oil stayed. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go,
sell the oil, and pay the debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.”
*The woman and her sons collected
pots and jars from their neighbors, pouring oil into them from their one pot.
The oil stopped pouring only when they ran out of containers.
The number of jars they gathered was
an indication of their faith. God’s provision was as large as their faith and
willingness to obey. Beware of limiting God’s blessings by a lack of faith and
obedience. God can and will do even more than we ask or think. *
Ephesians 3:20
“Now unto him that is able to do
exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us.”
*We are told countless times
throughout the word to trust in the Lord.*
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the
LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all
thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
*What we find a lot when we face
difficult times, is worrying. God tells us here, that we are not to worry and to
not think about what will happen tomorrow, because we are not promised
tomorrow. *
Matthew 6:25-34
“Therefore
I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye
shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more
than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the
air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your
heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which
of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why
take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they toil not, neither do they spin:29And yet
I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of
these. 30Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the
oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31Therefore
take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these
things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have
need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you. 34Take therefore no
thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of
itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
*The Lord knows exactly what we need,
all we need to do is believe! Simply ask of what you need and He shall give it
to you! *
Matthew 7:7-8
“Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one
that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it
shall be opened.”
